I thought I would summarise how we work with location data and what to consider when you are thinking about using location data to improve your service. First of all what most people think of when talking about location is GPS or a location derived through satellite which is one of the most commonly used location technologies since it is readily available through smartphones.
For simplicity sakes I will assume that you have a website and/or a mobile app since you are interested in adding location intelligence. If you have an app where a large portion of your users have already agreed to location tracking that is great and you are well on your way to start segmenting your users based on the places that they visit.
